Teak Characteristics

Teak, scientific name: Tectona grandis, mainly distributed in Southeast Asia.

Teak is absolutely king of woods. The heartwood tends to be a yellowish or medium brown. The color becomes golden and soft with age. Dark mineral lines are occasionally seen. The sapwood is lighter and distinctive. The grain is straight, though it can occasionally be wavy or interlocked. coarse, uneven texture and moderate to low natural luster.

Teak flooring is always the first choice for luxury interiors for its elegant color and rot resistance. The Janka hardness is 4740N. The specific gravity at 12% MC is 0.66 g/cm3. The superb stability, good strength properties, desired color and outstanding resistance to decay make teak flooring always the king choice.
