bubinga Characteristics

Bubinga, also known as Kevazingo, scientific name: Guibourtia spp. is a huge tropical tree from Equatorial Africa.

The bubinga heartwood ranges from a pinkish red to a darker reddish brown with darker purple or black streaks. Bubinga has a uniform fine to medium texture and moderate natural luster. It is very frequently seen with a variety of figure, including: flamed, waterfall, quilted, mottled, etc.

As an immensely popular imported African hardwood, it is much harder and denser than white oak (Janka hardness 10720N, 0.89g/cm3 at 12% MC). Bubinga flooring may be loved as much for its quirky name as it is for its strength and beauty.

*Top layer thickness is measured prior to the finishing process. Finishing processes such as brushing may affect the overall thickness.

** Based upon the use of formaldehyde-free glues, our timber floors are in full compliance with F**** formaldehyde emissions regulations.
