1 Introduction
In recent years, there has been a massive resurgence in the popularity of one particular type of floor covering – herringbone parquet. Herringbone parquet flooring is a type of wooden flooring that resembles fishbones, as the name suggests. The style weaves rectangular blocks to create an eye-catching mosaic design.
The beautiful herringbone parquet floor is recognized by the way the wood pieces are cut. Each board is cut in rectangles and then staggered, so that the of one board meets the side of another. The result is a zig zag pattern – a beautiful herringbone parquet floor.

2. Installation
Unlike traditional flooring, herringbone flooring installation is more complex and requires higher precision. The specific installation steps are as follows:
Ground Inspection
Before installation, check whether the cement floor surface is smooth and compact. Use a 2-meter straightedge to measure flatness, ensuring that the height difference within every 2 m2 does not exceed 2mm.
Moisture-Proof Treatment
Lay a 3mm-thick moisture-proof pad on the cement floor, overlapping the seams by 30cm and securing them with tape. Leave an expansion gap of equal width along the edges of the walls.
Cutting and Splicing
According to the shape and pattern of the herringbone flooring, cut the boards on-site to match the edge dimensions. Start by joining Board A and Board B, and use a table saw or circular saw to cut the connected boards at a 45° angle. Place the boards against the wall, leaving an approximately 15mm expansion gap between the floorboards and the wall corners. Take a second Board B, align its long side with the short side of the first Board A, use a T-square to align them, and lightly tap with a rubber mallet to lock them tightly.
Overall Installation
When approaching the opposite wall, measure and cut the flooring to fill all gaps, ensuring each board is securely locked and sufficient expansion gaps.
Notes
When installing each board, use a rubber mallet to tap evenly to ensure a tight fit between the tongue and groove. The tapping force should be moderate to avoid being too loose or too tight, which could affect the installation quality. Excessive tapping may cause edge compression or splitting, so extra care is required.
3. Structural Innovation
It is complex to install traditional herringbone flooring with individual A and B boards, requiring high precision and a perfectly leveled subfloor, necessitating experienced installers. However, even with skilled professionals, the installation process remains time-consuming. To enhance assembly precision and efficiency, we have innovatively redesigned herringbone flooring by achieving prefabricated assembly during the production phase, combining multiple boards into a single unit.
In conventional herringbone flooring, the boards are packaged and shipped after the painting process is completed. In contrast, the innovative multi-board composite herringbone flooring incorporates an additional prefabrication step before painting. Using custom molds and eco-friendly wood glue, multiple boards are precisely assembled into a single integrated piece. This method ensures uniform gaps, consistent locking force, and a smooth assembly surface.

Compared to traditional single-board herringbone flooring, composite herringbone flooring offers several advantages. Firstly, it prevents uneven gaps that could cause misalignment during assembly. Secondly, it significantly simplifies on-site assembly procedures, improving installation efficiency and reducing labor costs. Additionally, the uniform seams effectively minimize localized stress, preventing uneven strain caused by shrinkage and expansion due to moisture changes, thus avoiding deformation or damage to the boards.
